Carol Norris – Biography

Born in the United Kingdom, Carol Norris first became involved in photography after fulfilling a long held desire to move to the picturesque town of Southampton, in Ontario where after visiting at the age of 16 she first fell in love with Canada.

Situated by the shores of Lake Huron, the natural beauty and wildlife of the area stimulated an interest in photography, and Carol began capturing on film the essence of the environment in which she lived, paying particular attention to the importance of light and its key role in creating a memorable image.

Her passion for photography aroused, she expanded her photographic horizons both technically and creatively with workshops by prominent Canadian photographers. As well, she traveled to visually exciting locations to expand her portfolio and increase the depth of her imagery.

In only 6 years Carol has developed her art and has been published in numerous photographic and news journals. She has also won a number of international photographic competitions and awards. She had her first solo exhibition 'Light Impressions' at The Elevator Photo Gallery in Toronto, in September 2000 and since has been in several group shows. Three years ago, she opened her own successful gallery in Southampton, Ontario.

Carols work includes local and international landscapes and lakescapes, wildlife and impressionist imagery. She uses only traditional photographic techniques, and does not employ digital techniques to manipulate her images.
